TRAINING MANUAL

Carpets form some of the most vulnerable artefacts in historic houses across the UK, and it is vital for anyone tasked with cleaning or caring for these valuable items to have the appropriate levels of knowledge, skills and training. This should include identification of the carpet's construction, its general condition, any specific damage, its future performance and how it might best be preserved for the longer term.

With this in mind we have produced a detailed training manual entitled GUIDELINES FOR THE ROUTINE CARE OF HISTORIC CARPETS AND RUGS. The manual aims to enable conservators, and those who care for collections on a daily basis, to carry out audits and apply appropriate methodologies for routine cleaning and maintenance.

The manual costs £20 plus £5 p&p and can be ordered directly from this page.
